  • Renny Brown - Director of Golf
  • Johnny Walker - Head Golf Professional
    • An avid golfer for 30 years and a teacher for 15 years, teaching has been a passion for Johnny Walker ever since he started coaching volleyball in high school, 28 years ago. While running the volleyball program at a local high school in San Diego, Walker took over the golf team. He finally decided to attend The San Diego Golf Academy to further his teaching career. After graduating, he took a teaching job at a local golf course before transitioning to Aviara Golf Club. On September 28, 2010, Walker was elected to membership of the PGA. His biggest strength is his ability to communicate everyday terminology and analogies to the more technical golf swing. Plainly stated, "I can relate to anyone." My teaching philosophy is also easy, "Keep it Simple."

During his time at the Golf Academy, he also completed a club-fitting and club-building internship with Fujikura shafts. This experience not only fine-tuned his ability to tailor clubs to an individual’s swing in order to maximize distance and accuracy, but it also enhanced his instructional capacity. Steve joined the team at Aviara Golf Club in January 2013 as an Assistant Golf Professional. He enjoys working with students of all ages and skill-levels who have the desire and the drive to learn the game of golf. Pursuing his lifelong dream to have a career in the industry, Bill is currently on the path to becoming a Class A PGA Professional. As a youth playing baseball, basketball and football, he was introduced to golf during high school and was immediately hooked. Bill’s teaching philosophy focuses on proper fundamentals including the grip, stance, and posture which lead to a more consistent and easy to repeat golf swing. Bill takes great pride watching his students’ reactions after a successful lesson. "I promise every student of mine will leave with a smile feeling accomplished and a better player than when they began."

After a few years at Admiral Baker he moved to The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe where he continued to develop his knowledge of the game from the country club atmosphere. Joel now has found himself as one of the Assistant Professionals here at Aviara Golf Club. Joel’s approach to teaching varies depending on the student. He believes that every golf swing is as unique as the individual. Joel likes to work with all levels of golfer, from raw beginner to advanced professional.
